Google announced another big company who went Google - MWV (formerly MeadWestvaco) - you know their products as the Mead 5 star notebooks, binders, planners, calendars, stationery, sketchbooks, etc. - all the stuff you send kids to school with! Recently they've acquired providers of coffee cups, canned beverages, dvd cases, and fluid dispensers for perfumes and lotions - along with the companies came disparate IT systems using Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. In one swoop, 12,000 employees in 34 different countries were integrated into a single, multi-cultural system with Google Apps. That's really amazing if you think about - all those different languages are supported by one single system without the need for IT support. Like Google's other case studies, the results reported are along the same themes - increased productivity, increased information sharing, greater level of collaboration, and real time communication through text and video chat. A new reported category is innovation - utilizing google forms and google docs along with the Google Apps Script, the company was able to design and quickly release a quote management system.
