Google released various updates to Docs today including a consistent look and feel to the links, title area, toolbar, menu system, and menu terminology across Documents, Spreadsheets, and Presentations. Within the Docs list there is a new export feature and a look and feel update. The export feature allows the user to select multiple files of any type (documents, spreadsheets, and presentations) and then convert them all into the desired format within a zip file. A well thought out touch to the export function is the ability to decide the format within the zip - for example, all documents can be converted into pdf and spreadsheets converted into Microsoft's Excel format. Besides exporting capabilities, the look and feel has been updated to enhance selection - from Google's own notes: "Unviewed" files are in bold, while "viewed" files are not. You can toggle this setting by selecting the item and clicking on "mark as (Un)Viewed" in the "More Actions" menu. When an item is first shared to you, it will be bold ("Unviewed") and marked as "New!". Once you view this item, it's listed normally. If the item is updated by someone else, then it will be marked as "Unviewed" again. |
