On a tangent to Android - the Google operating system that powers the T-Mobile Google G1 and MyTouch is now the operating system behind Barnes & Noble's new e-reader called the nook. The nook has two screens - one on the top for viewing the book which uses e-ink (e-ink is really cool technology that displays particles in a configuration such as words or a picture - kind of like a modern version of an old fashioned etch-a-sketch - therefore there's no glare even in direct sunlight) and a second color screen on the bottom for viewing your library. Besides running on Android; what makes it different is that you can expand the memory, share books between devices, view pdf files, and the nook has a replaceable battery. |
